Konkret Dice Roller Help

Welcome to Konkret Dice Roller! Konkret is a modern dice roller program online. It allows you to roll virtual dice. This is handy if you don't have any real dice around. Or maybe you don't have five 12 sided dice or some other strange combination you need in your roleplaying or dice playing game. Most of the time rolling virtual dice using Konkret is very easy. This brief help page describes some of the things you can do with Konkret.

Jargon

At this point I would like to introduce you to some simple dice rolling jargon.

  • D4, D6, D10, etcThe letter 'D' followed by a number describes a die with that number of sides. Thus D6 is an ordinary six sided die, while D30 is an exotic 30 sided die.
  • 6D6, 2D100, 1D30 etcA number followed by a die description represents a roll with some number of dice. So 2D100 means roll two hundred sided (!) dice.

Basic Rolling

On the main screen you will see a number of drop-downs and input boxes. These are what you use to set up your virtual dice before rolling. So for example, say that you find yourself in dire need of rolling a six sided die four times. To do this, simply select '6' from the Die drop down, labeled D. Then enter '4' in the 'time(s)' entry box. Hit Roll! and you're done! Yep, it is that simple.

Whatever you want to do it's usually just a matter of completing the first sentence and hitting Roll.

Saved Rolls

The Saved Rolls tab, reachable by clicking the 'Saved Rolls' button, contains a list of your saved roll types. To save a type of roll, just give it a name in the 'label this roll' box before rolling it. It will then be entered into your 'saved rolls' list and you will be able to perform the same kind of roll with a click.

Roll History

This tab contains all the rolls you have made during the current session. This is good in case you forgot the result of one of your rolls. It happens to me all the time, so don't be ashamed of using this feature.

Systems

Konkret supports some particular roleplaying systems and will help you perform the calculations involved when rolling dice in these roleplaying games.

  • Old World of Darkness: Use this if you are playing the old versions of White Wolf's World of Darkness games like Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf and so on. The old system works like so: you roll a number of D10s against a target, a 'difficulty'. Every die that comes out equal to or above this target is counted as a 'success'. Any 1 is counted as a 'botch' and subtracts one success from your total.
  • New World of Darkness: In the last edition, White Wolf changed the dice system as compared to 'Old World of Darkness' described previously. In this system the target is always 8 and a die showing 1 no longer counts against you.
  • WEG's Wild Die: In this kind of system there is a 'wild die' among the dice thrown. In Konkret the wild die is colored pink and is always last. If the wild die shows a 6, another die roll is added. This new die is also considered wild so if it shows a 6 again it is rerolled another time. A wild die showing a 1 on the other hand is not counted towards the total sum and also cancels out the highest other die rolled.
